Watch this video to see what makes us more than just a great band!
3RD° BURNS began in a basement of a home in Metamora back in 2004 with just the music director, Gary Burns, his three children, his nieces, nephews and their friends. After only one year of putting together a song list and practicing weekly the group made their first appearance at an Open House in Imlay City. From the generosity of family, friends, and other interested parties donating to the cause, band equipment was purchased for a more professional sound.
The following year, the band played in Cafes in downtown Lapeer as well as Marlette. Quickly, students from all areas around Lapeer generated interest in joining and no one who had a genuine and mature manner of practice and respect for their fellow musicians was turned away. We are currently entering our 18th year in a row of rock-on shows.
Since those early days, over 500 young musicians have participated in the YMC! Today, 3RD° BURNS includes over 60 members and perform almost every weekend from June to September all over the state of Michigan.
Our venues include: Royal Oak Arts Beats & Eats, Ann Arbor Art Fair, Frankenmuth Auto Fest, Lapeer Days, and many other events in the area.
YMC is proud to endorse the amazing performances of the
3RD° BURNS Band.
Provide the FREE training of God's gifts of music and art to ALL children of all ages, all races, all social statuses and all physical handicaps regardless of national origin, gender, religion, or sexual orientation, for the benefit of their self value and confidence in order to help them enter the world as adults with skills that will benefit them their entire lives.
"Experiencing the excitement of performing in a rock band is a gift that we can give to our young, local musicians. When we show them how to develop their talent, learn new life skills, and give back to the community, we are helping them be established models with satisfying, well-rounded lives."
- Gary Burns, Director & Manager of 3RD° BURNS
